Splurge vs. Save: Foundation

February 17, 2015

Ladies, let me tell you a little secret about myself.  Sometimes, I love to splurge and buy bigger purchases that I know will be great investments for me.  BUT of course I have to balance those purchases out by saving in other areas {sometime’s I’m a real sneakster with some of my best finds ;) }.  That’s why I’ve decided to start a new series on my little blog, Splurge vs. Save.

Obviously what seems worth investing in will vary from person to person.  For some, a great foundation is totally worth the investment, but for others it just isn’t a priority.  That’s why I’ve rounded out some great high-end and low-end options, so you’ll be able to pick out the perfect option for you!

splurge-save-foundationMatte Finish:

Splurge MAC Studio Fix Fluid – This foundation is perfect for those who want a matte finish and a foundation that will wear all day long!  At $27 it’s the lowest price of our splurge picks, but it is a great option for girls with oily skin and want a medium coverage foundation.
Save Revlon Colorstay Foundation – This is an amazing dupe for the MAC foundation. With long-lasting coverage, matte finish and medium coverage, it’s got all of the things that make for a great foundation without a hefty price tag!

Dewy Finish:

Splurge NARS Sheer Glow Foundation – For lovers of glowy skin, this foundation is the ultimate cult favorite. It’s got a medium, build-able coverage that looks natural on the skin. It’s easy to blend, and is great for sensitive skin!
Save Neutrogena Healthy Skin – If you’re looking for a product that’ll give you a little more than tinted moisturizer, but still looks natural then this is for you. With a dewy finish, natural look and great consistency this is perfect for those with dry skin or love to have a glow.

Barely There:

Spurge Urban Decay Naked Skin – For those who like light, natural foundation then this is ideal. Very medium finish, and excellent for building up the perfect amount of coverage. It looks incredibly natural, and falls right in the middle of our high-end price range.
Save Revlon Nearly Naked – This is a great option for those looking for a natural look without the price tag. It’s got a nice coverage that can work for any skin type, and is perfect for those who are looking to even out their skin with a “no makeup” look.

Covergirl Ready Set Gorgeous – Guys, this is my new fave!  I talked about this in my January Favorites, but I am totally obsessed with this foundation.  It’s matte finish, lasts all day without settling into fine lines or pores, and looks like a second layer of skin.  PLUS it’s only $7!  A must-try if you are in the market for a new drugstore foundation!

So fill me in – is foundation something you splurge on? Or do you prefer to save up for something else? Let me know!
