Splurge vs. Save: Sunglasses

April 14, 2015

With the weather getting a bit warmer, it’s time to bust out the sunglasses!  Growing up, I almost never wore sunglasses – BIG MISTAKE!  I ended up spending the whole summer squinting from the bright sun, which definitely did not help with my eye sight {not to mention wrinkles}.  Now, I try to always keep a pair of sunglasses with me for times where I’m caught outside without any shade.  I have a mix of cheap sunglasses {aka the $3 pairs from Forever21} and some more spendy sunglasses which are a total investment piece.  There are totally pros / cons to both, so I’ve rounded out some great swaps in this edition of Splurge vs. Save: Sunglasses!

I find that cheap sunglasses are amazing for throwing in your car, or keeping in your bag when you’re going to be out & about all day.  It’s nice to know that you have a pair that if it gets lost, scratched, broken, etc. you won’t be heartbroken.  On the other hand, I find that my nicer sunglasses I take wayyy better care of, and the vision quality truly is miles better than the cheap pairs.  Whether you’re looking for an inexpensive pair to wear outside on the boat or a nicer pair for sitting on a patio after work, I’ve got you covered with some great options!

  • What a great comparison! The cheap sunglasses look almost identical to the expensive ones! I tend to splurge on my sunglasses but I’ve been lucky to not have anything happen to any of my pairs.

    • That’s so lucky that you’ve had great luck with your nicer pairs! I haven’t had much bad luck, but I also am WAY more hesitant to wear my nice pairs if I know there’s a risk of losing or breaking them. Plus these are such great deals I won’t feel guilty buying more than one! ;)
