3 Beauty Steps You May Be Missing

missing-beauty-steps I get a surprising number of emails from readers of my blog asking me specific questions about products I’ve mentioned, and whether I think they will help their beauty routine.  After talking to them {or friends & family}, I’ve realized there are a few critical beauty steps that a lot of people totally forget!  These missing beauty steps are so important, but people can be totally misinformed about them.  I’m here to share the top three steps that I think make the biggest difference in revamping your hair, skin and nails!

1. Double Cleanse – When people talk to me about their skin issues, one of the first things I ask is “are you double cleansing?!” Let me break it down. Cleansing once is not good enough to really get your skin clean and remove any dirt or impurities from the day. You should be cleansing once {whether that’s with a makeup wipe, micellar water, etc.} to remove makeup, dirt and more. Then, it’s important to use a gentle cleanser to really deep clean your pores and ensure that you will have beautiful, clear, glowy skin.

Some of my favorite products? A cleansing oil from The Body Shop is fabulous for getting off waterproof makeup, and I love the Up & Up Makeup Removing wipes. For my second cleanse I swear by the Kate Sommerville or First Aid Beauty cleansers – they are AMAZING!

2. Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate – I used to have a misconception that since I had oily skin, I shouldn’t be using a moisturizer. Instead, I tried to strip my skin of the moisture in hopes of drying out the oil and blemishes – NOT GOOD! Once I started investing in a quality moisturizer, my skin changed almost immediately for the better. Hydration is key to balance your skin and give you a beautiful glow.

Not only is hydrating important for your face, but it is also critical for your hair, nails and body. Using hydrating oil {like this one from Bumble & Bumble} will help prevent split-ends and make your hair healthy and shiny. For nails, a cuticle oil is fabulous and will help keep your nails strong {plus it makes your manicure last longer}. Be sure to use a great moisturizer or body oil all over your skin to keep it plump, hydrated and beautiful! And of course make sure you are drinking LOTS and LOTS of water to keep your whole body hydrated!

3. Clean Out Your Insides! – Sounds a little weird, right? But one of the biggest changes for my hair, skin and nails has been making sure that my insides are clean, happy and balanced. Supplements are super important to me in making sure that I am getting all of the vitamins, minerals and essential compounds that make our bodies balanced.
